“It is better to die for what you believe in rather than to lie to save your life.” This statement is very true. If you would lie to save yourself you have just become a lier. Also when you lie to save your life you could only be hurting others that might need you to stand by their side. Telling the truth only makes you stronger, and you may think the outcome would be worse but it could also be better knowning that you did the right thing by telling the truth and not lieing for something you never did. You should feel proud of yourself no matter what the situation is as long as you have told the truth. Truth is a BIG deal when it comes to anything. It gives people the reason to trust you or not. So if they found out that you lied just to save yourself you would be sinning, and in The Crucible that is also bad and could send you to jail. Truth and trust are to great words. This statement beholds both of them. Because in the end you may be saying something that is a lie to get you out of the trouble, but in the end the truth would have set you free from everything that happened in the first place. You shouldn’t be changing yourself into something you’re not just to keep yourself from dying. It would be more truthful to yourself to be honest with your heart, and the people around you. Elyse
